Linda Sims' Obituary
Linda Sue Lanier Sims, 76, entered peacefully into rest on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, which was on her son’s birthday, at DeRidder Retirement & Rehab in DeRidder, Louisiana with her daughter and grandchildren by her side. Linda was born on May 2, 1948, in Lake Charles to Tom Ace and Velma Harper Lanier.
Visitation will begin Friday, October 4, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024, with a visitation which will start at 10:00 AM and service will begin at 11:00 AM, in the chapel with Rev. Wade Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery, DeRidder, LA.
Linda grew up as one of three daughters to Tom and Velma Lanier. She was raised in Berwick, LA and attended school through graduation. She then attended business school and graduated with a Business Degree. She worked as a secretary and with the accounting departments. She married Larry Sims on May 4, 1968 and they raised two wonderful children and they all were her life. She was a devoted wife who cherished her husband, loved her children & grandchildren. She loved to work in the yard, growing things in her garden, crafting, and animals, especially her dogs, Rusty & Max who were like her kids. In her later years, she was a homemaker.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted daughter, Tammy Wilks and partner Kevin Wonner of DeRidder; her beloved sister, Virginia Hidalgo of Baton Rouge; her loving grandchildren, Cory Sims and wife Anna, Blaise Sims, Nick Wilks and wife Samantha, and Jordan Wilks; her cherished great-grandchildren, Khloe Sims, Braiselee Sims, Jensen Sims, and Reese Wilks; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Velma Lanier; her husband of 54 years, Larry Sims; her son, Thomas Blaine Sims; brother, John Lanier; her twin sister, Brenda Audley.
Those honored to serve as pallbearer are Cory Sims, Nick Wilks, Jordan Wilks, Zachary Rogers, Parker Rogers, Konner Seal, and Dakota Duplechain.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of DeRidder Retirement &Rehab, Dr. Farquhar, Bri Horton, FNP, and Harbor Hospice.
