Linda Jean Livengood's Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Linda Jean Livengood, who left this world on December 28, 2024, at 76. Born on April 3, 1948, in Gastonia, North Carolina, Linda was a beacon of love, strength, and resilience. Her journey, which began in the heart of North Carolina, took her across the globe and ultimately brought her to Anacoco, Louisiana, where she spent her final years surrounded by her beloved family.
Linda was the cherished daughter of James Benjamin Covington and Lottie Lorene Cathcart Covington, who preceded her in death, alongside her beloved son, John Robert Livengood. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ben Covington, Jr. and Kenny Covington, and her sisters, Lucy McFalls, Ruth Bass, Alice Christopher, and Vickie Sloop. Despite the loss of many loved ones, Linda's spirit remained unbreakable.
In March 1968, Linda married the love of her life, James Steven Livengood, after meeting on a blind date at the What-A-Burger in Mooresville, North Carolina, in 1967. Their love blossomed over their 56 years of marriage, during which they welcomed six wonderful children into the world: James Steven Livengood, Jr. and his wife Tosha of Conover, North Carolina; Robert William Livengood and his wife Teresa of Anacoco, Louisiana; and Benjamin David Livengood and his wife Ashley of Anacoco, Louisiana. Linda also took great joy in her daughters, Marie Annette Livengood and her husband Rocky Reeves of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and April Michelle Lee and her husband Allen of Anacoco, Louisiana.
Linda's legacy lives on in her ten cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. She is also survived by her sisters, Jenny Davidson, Nancy Huffman, and Doris Jean Reep, all of North Carolina, whose love and support were a source of comfort and strength for her throughout her life.
Linda, a woman of many talents, had a green thumb that allowed her to create beautiful gardens filled with vibrant flowers. She had a special knack for baking sweets that would bring joy to her family gatherings. Linda's love for cookouts and holidays was evident, as she always led the family together. She had an unwavering love for her animals, especially her beloved cat, Patches, who she adored deeply.
Linda's life was a remarkable tapestry woven with the threads of love, family, and enduring spirit. From North Carolina to Japan, Texas, Hawaii, California, back to North Carolina, and finally to Louisiana, she embraced every experience with open arms and a warm heart. Her laughter, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
