Linda Elizabeth "Betsy" May Scoggins' Obituary
Funeral services for Linda Elizabeth “Betsy” May Scoggins, 75, of Leesville will be held Saturday, April 23rd, at 2 pm at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Rev. Craig Forque and Rev. Jeff Coleman officiating. The burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, April 22nd, from 5 pm until 9 pm, then Saturday, April 23rd from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
Betsy, the daughter of William Clark and A. J. Welch May was born on January 26, 1941, in DeRidder, LA. She passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at her home in Leesville.
Betsy was an extremely loving wife, mother and grandmother and was very family oriented. Birthdays and holidays were always a special time for her and her family. She had a deep love for Leesville and her country. She was a member of the Beautification Committee of Leesville, Vernon Parish Community Orchestra and numerous other groups within Leesville and surrounding area. She also loved dancing; for over thirty years she danced at the Joan Kathey Dance Studio. For several years she was an active participant in the monthly FBC nursing home sing- a-long.
Betsy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leesville where she was part of the Music Department there for over 60 years. She also taught music at Anacoco School and private music lessons for a number of years.
She is survived by the love of her life since Junior High school and husband of 54 years, Don A. Scoggins; daughters, Susan Scoggins Gautreaux of Leesville and Linda “Dandy” Scoggins Beckermeyer and husband Tony of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren Elizabeth May Gautreaux, Austin Clark Beckermeyer, Nathan Don Gautreaux and Collin Wayne Beckermeyer
The Scoggins family wants to extend a special thank you to Betsy’s caregivers, Paula, Rain and Carolyn and also to Penny, Jamie and the staff of the Aime Hospice in Alexandria.
Betsy’s family requests that memorial donations be made to the Music Department at the First Baptist Church in Leesville, in lieu of flowers.
