Leo Porter Dansby's Obituary
Funeral services for Leo P. Dansby, 66, of New Llano, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 14, 2020 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville with Rev. Lawrence Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville at a later date.
Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2020 from 12:00 P.M– 2:00 P.M in the funeral home.
Leo P. Dansby, born on November 22, 1953, in San Francisco, California and raised in Seaside, California was one of six children born to the late Porter M. and Natalie Dansby. Leo entered into rest in Vivian, Louisiana on September 6, 2020.
He was a longtime resident of New Llano, Louisiana. Leo served in the Army from 1971-1991, retiring as a Sergeant First Class in Quartermaster. Leo served his country with great pride, dignity, and honor. He was awarded multiple accommendations throughout his service. After his retirement from the Army, he worked for the State of Louisiana Department of Corrections until he retired from there.
Leo had a love for his Harley-Davidson and helping others without hesitation. He was known as a good father, neighbor, friend, soldier, brother, son, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and a beloved husband.
He is preceded in death by his father; Porter M. Dansby, mother; Natalie Dansby, brother; Carlos Dansby, and wife of 25 years Roxanne Dansby.
Leo is survived by his beloved Schaunzer, Fraizer, of New Llano, LA., children; Edward P. Dansby of Mesa, AZ, Angelica Y. Dansby of Springfield, MO., Kristina E. Dansby of Queens Creek, AZ, Justin P. Dansby of DeRidder, LA., step-sons; Jason Leacock of Miami, Fl., Joshua Leacock of Las Vegas, NV., brothers and sister Vecente, Jose and Christopher Dansby, Susan Sampson of California, in-laws, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, nieces and nephews.
