Lenda J. Bates-Frazier's Obituary
Lenda J. Bates-Frazier entered peacefully into rest on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 11 days, in Rose Hill, KS with her loving family by her side. Lenda was born on Saturday, August 9, 1941, in Vernon Parish to Leonard James and Margaret Lois Knight James.
Visitation will begin Friday, October 28, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service which begins at 2:00 PM, in Christ Way Church, 207 Lawlis Road DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Deuce Stevens and Rev. Morris Goins officiating. Interment will follow at the John C. White Cemetery in Providence, LA. Funeral Services under the care and direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Lenda was a member of The Lighthouse Church in Rose Hill, KS. She retired in 2005 after 30 plus years as a teacher and school administrator. She obtained a Masters from Mcneese State University in Lake Charles, LA.
She enjoyed reading, and enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed lots of Sudoku puzzles, she also enjoyed a good root beer float from time to time. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Gary Frazier of Rose Hill, KS; daughter-in-law, Janet Bates of Houma, LA; brothers, David James and wife Ruth of Dozier, AL, and George “Sammy” James and wife Mary of Rosepine, LA; sisters, Velda Willis of Rosepine, LA, Michelle Gibson and husband David of Rosepine, and Nancy Kay and husband Derrel of Leesville, LA; granddaughters, Karen Arnold and husband Dane of Baton Rouge, LA, Kayla Bates of Houma, LA, and Gabby Stevens of Baton Rouge, LA; grandsons, Lane Bates and wife Anne of Houma, LA, Deuce Stevens and wife Lauren of Derby, KS, and Brandon Bates of Calcasieu, LA; great-grandchildren, James, Jewellia, Olivia, and Beaux Stevens, Jourdan Smith, and Colton Bates; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lois Knight James; brothers, Leon James and Mitchell James; husband, Bob Bates; daughter, Roberta Noland; and sons, Robert Bates and Ralph Bates.
