Funeral Service for Lena Pearl Bailey Johnson will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, 2:00 PM, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Minister officiating will be Rev. Arlen Smith with her burial at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cravens, LA. Her visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM & Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 2PM at the funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
Lena Pearl Bailey Johnson was born on March 2, 1910, in Cravens, LA, to Mr. & Mrs. Ike Bailey. She passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2011, in Westwood Manor Nursing Home, DeRidder, LA. Mrs. Johnson, 101, was a loving wife and mother. Ms. Lena was active in her church and community. She, along with her husband, Earl R. Johnson, Sr., served their community for over 30 years as owners and operators of Earl Johnson’s Grocery in Cravens. Together, they raised a family of seven children and provided love to a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Ludie Wisby Bailey; her husband, Earl R. Johnson, Sr; her son, Earl R. Johnson, Jr. and daughters, Dolores Earlene Scogin and Jimmie Ruth Hardisty.
Survivors include five daughters, Roby Vaughn and husband Lee of Pasadena, TX, Claudia Spears and husband, Tommy of Cravens, LA, Gloria Dionne and husband Joseph of Cravens, LA, Polly Nations and husband David of Many, LA and Katherine Johnson of DeRidder, LA.
