Funeral services for Lelar M. “Mae” Duncan, 70, of Alexandria, LA will be held Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 1401 S. Harvard Street, Alexandria, LA with Rev. Phillip Gallow officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pineville, LA. Visitation will be Saturday, January 23rd from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Lelar Mavis Duncan was born on May 23, 1939 to the parentage of Arkealies and Elizabeth Sowell Brown in Shreveport, LA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers.
She attended schools in Rapides Parish.
She united with the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful member for many years.
She left her earthly home and earned her wings and took flight to her heavenly home on January 15, 2010.
“Mae” as she was fondly called worked for Cenla Community Action Committee for several years.
She met and married the love of her life Mr. Willie B. Duncan. To this union 5 children were born.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving husband of 55 years Mr. Willie B. Duncan of Alexandria LA; four daughters, Angela Denise Duncan-Ayo of Alexandria, LA, Chris Lavette Clark (Jerry) of Leesville, LA, Ghidrah Michelle Duncan of Alexandria, LA, Mavis Elizabeth Duncan of Alexandria, LA; one son Arkealies Duncan (Andrea) of Alexandria, LA; 10 grandchildren, Natosha, Denay, Bryant, Akayla, Angel, Arkendrious, Armond, Jerry, Jr., Oceananna, & Arkecia and 5 great grandchildren, Daequan, Ariana, Breianna, Melik and Jayden.
