Leffie, the son of Hoyt and Nora Mae Westbrook was born November 14, 1939 in Houston, Texas. He passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 in Alexandria, LA.
Mr. Westbrook graduated from Hornbeck High School in 1957. After serving in the National Guard, he joined the United States Air Force on July 4, 1957 and served until his retirement as a Tech Sergeant in 1977. His service included posts in New Mexico where he met and married his wife of 51 years, Naomi “Louise” Westbrook, as well as Japan, Spain and a tour of duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for 23 years as an outside line technician for Bell South. There he met and worked side by side with Mr. Paul Weaver, who became one of his closest and dearest friends. Following his retirement, he dedicated his time to caring for family and friends, reading nearly every western and mystery book in the Vernon Parish Library and cultivating his new career as a “Farmville” farmer. More than anything, he loved his family.
Leffie is survived by his wife, Louise Westbrook of Hornbeck; daughter Terri and husband, Joey Whiddon of Hornbeck; brother Hoyt “Tommy” Westbrook, sisters, Rose Marie Boxberger and Joe Ann and husband Ronald Dowden, all of Leesville; grandchildren Keith Thomas Whiddon and wife Jessica of West Monroe, LA and Annslea Taylor Whiddon of Hornbeck, LA.
