Leese Mae Payton's Obituary
On January 21, 2016, Leese Mae (Keys) Payton, of Leesville, LA, went to her eternal rest. Leese Payton was born November 5, 1949, in Leesville, LA, to the late Jasper and Sylvia Keys.
She graduated from Vernon High School and worked for Army Community Services in Financial Readiness from August of 1981 until she retired in September of 2006. She spent her retirement selling Avon, creating flower arrangements and working in the church. Leese was a member of first Crisp Chapel and later Johnson Temple C.O.G.I.C. While a member, she labored as the youth director, choir president, and earned her Evangelist Missionary license in 2013.
Leese was preceded in death by her father Jasper Keys, her mother Sylvia Keys, her brother Jasper Keys, Jr., her sister Cecilia Keys, her sons Stephen Payton and Shelton "Bubba" Payton and her niece Katrina Keys, Esquire.
Leese Payton is survived by the following: her husband, Joel Payton (Leesville LA); her children Phaedra "Faye" Payton and her partner Denise, Demetrius (Tyrone) Payton and his wife Michelle (Selma, TX), Tanja Michelle Payton (Houston, TX), Kelvin Payton (Leesville, LA), Erica Mangum (Winnfield, LA), and Len Payton and his wife Monica (Abbeville, LA); her grandchildren Felicia Payton, Clarissa Payton, Quintin Payton, JaMarcus Payton, Eric Whitehurst, Stephen Payton, Mason Payton, and Jaleigh Payton; her great-grandchildren Nehemiah Crumedy & Anaya Richardson; her siblings Katherine Keys (Leesville, LA), Sylvia Edwards (Leesville, LA), Genesis Keys and his wife Patricia (Mesquite, TX), Beatrice Piper (Leesville, LA), Esther Rabb and her husband David (Shreveport, LA), Princess Keys Copeland and her husband Dennis (Belton, TX), and Joshua Keys (Leesville, LA); and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Her wake will be January 29, 2016, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.; funeral services will be Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 12:00 P.M. with the viewing of the body beginning at 10 A. M. All services will be at Johnson Temple C.O.G.I.C, 200 Nona Street, Leesville, LA. Services are under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
