Leamon C. Martin's Obituary
Funeral services for Leamon C. Martin, 82, of Anacoco will be held Thursday, September 14th at 10 AM at Anacoco First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dave Stewart, Rev. Durhl R. Davis and Rev. Morris Dale Goins officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Grove Cemetery, in Anacoco. Under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 13th, from 5 pm until 9 pm and then 9 am until service time Thursday all at the church.
Leamon went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 10th at his home in Anacoco. He was the son of Henry Fay and Mildred Dixon Martin.
Leamon was a lifelong resident of Anacoco, he retired from the US Postal Service as a rural route carrier after 25 years and he also drove a school bus for the Vernon Parish School Board for a number of years. Leamon truly loved his family. He served his Lord faithfully and loved to listen and attend Gospel and Bluegrass singings. He enjoyed the companionship of his dog Benji and riding his John Deere Lawn Mower. He was a member of the Holly Grove Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mildred Martin, brother, W. A. Martin and sister, LaVelle Corley.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise; son, Ricky and wife Cheryl Martin of Anacoco; daughter, Pam and husband Steve Lammey of Leesville; grandchildren, Ricky “Peanut” and wife Sherrie Martin, Kenny Wayne Martin, Sean Swartz all of Anacoco, Scotty and wife Andrea Tilley of Rosepine and Jennifer and husband Shane Hansen of Junction City, KS; brother, Billy and wife Ruth Martin of Anacoco; sisters, Loretta Poe of Leesville, Lorene and husband John Brinkley of Anacoco and Shirley and husband Richard Ross of Shreveport; sister-in-law, Brenda and husband Andy McElveen of Lake Charles; brother-in-law, Joe and wife Carolyn Singletary of Hattiesburg, MS; 11 great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and extended family and friends.
The Martin family is requesting that memorial donations be made to the Holly Grove Cemetery Association in lieu of flowers.
