L.C. "Duke" Deverts, Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral service for L.C. “Duke” Deverts, Sr. 96, of Sugartown, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Sugartown Baptist Church with Rev. J. D. Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Sugartown Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home in DeRidder.
Duke was born on Friday, November 16, 1917, to Robert and Elizabeth Damphe Deverts in Pittsburg, PA. His affiliations were with Sam Todd #182 – Past Master, Pitkin #338, Hines Chapter #54 Royal Arch Mason, Louis B. Frusha Council #32, Leesville Rhodes Commandery #17, Scottish Rite – Lake Charles and Charter Member Habibi Temple – Lake Charles. Mr. Deverts passed from this life on Monday, January 27, 2014, at Haughton, LA.
Mr. Deverts was survived by 2 sons, Lloyd C. Deverts, Jr. and wife Barbara of Belcher, LA and David G. Deverts and wife Becky of Haughton, LA; 1 daughter, Judy Deverts of Haughton, LA; 6 grandchildren, John McFatter, Melanie Clinkscale, Mark Deverts, Jennifer Buxton, Monica Roy and Donnie Bevel and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Deverts and 1 daughter, Jackie McFatter. The family requests that In lieu of flowers a memorial be made to Louisiana Grand Lodge, Dyslexia Program, 5746 Masonic Drive,
Alexandria, LA 71301.
