Lloyd, David & Judy: Phil and I are so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. He was a fine man and even though I haven't seen him in years, when I did see him, he always recognized me and we always had a good visit...I know that you will miss him....we wanted to come for visitation, but wasn't able to...Phil and I will praying for comfort for you and your families..
I was a schoolmate of all of Brother Duke's and Mrs. Maggie's children, Judy, Jackie, Lloyd and David, and a classmate of Lloyd's. I remember when their family owned the general store on the Cravens highway. As kids, my cousins and I would walk up there in the summer heat and trade several Coke bottles for the 2 cents deposit, then spend the money on another Coke. That had to be a headache for them. But, Brother Duke and Mrs. Maggie were patient souls and treated us kids with kindness. Judy, Lloyd, and David, I have a lot of fond memories of our association as children and through the years. I feel so honored to have met Mr. Duke Deverts. He was an expert listener and a very kind soul. I will miss him. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family.
