Lawrence Cornelius Moore's Obituary
Funeral service for Lawrence Cornelius Moore, sometimes known as “Larry”, “L.C.” and “Sarge”, 83, of DeRidder, LA will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder. A Military Service burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Mr. Moore passed from this life on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at his residence in DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home in DeRidder and Sunday, 12 noon until the time of the service.
Mr. Moore was born on Sunday, August 17, 1930, to James and Ethel Cash Moore at Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He is survived by 5 sons, Ronnie Moore, Sr. and wife Wendy, Gary Moore, Billy Warren and wife Wanda, Joe Warren and wife Kay and Wayne “Buck” Warren and wife Anna; 2 daughters, Shelia Moore and Patricia Moore Hardenstine and husband Alan; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Warren Moore; parents and a sister, Louise Jensen.
Mr. Moore proudly served in the United States Army for a total of 23 years. He served in Korea, Vietnam, Indochina and Germany. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Korean Service Medal, UN SV Medal, Merit Unit Command and 2 Bronze Service Stars. He received an Honorable Discharge at Fort Polk, LA on December 23, 1969, and SFC, E-7 (Retired) on March 31, 1977. He was of the Methodist faith.
