Lawrence Lacy's Obituary
Lawrence Lacy, 98, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on April 7, 2018 at his home. Lawrence, was born on October 28, 1919, in New Hoy, LA, to Rose Lee Farque and Freeman Alonza Lacy. Visitation will begin Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 5 PM to 9 PM, at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Dry Creek, LA. Visitation will begin Wednesday, April 11, 2018, from 9 AM until time of service at 10:30 AM, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Dry Creek, LA with Rev. Alan Knuckles officiating. Burial to follow at the Sugartown Cemetery in Sugartown, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Prior to entering the war, Lawrence was Gen. Patton’s personal driver. He worked in the CC Camp and then enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1940 and went to WWII, where he was a Tank Commander during the war. He then farmed and raised cattle, later went to work with the U.S. Civil Service in Supply where he was a clerk until retirement. He worked at the Ft. Polk and Ft. Bliss while employed in Civil Service. He was a long term member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, of 24 years, Lennes Lacy of Dry Creek, LA; step-son, Lawrence Rasberry (Karen) of Grant, LA, Perry McDonald of Sugartown, LA, step-daughters, Teresa McMillian (Jesse) of Sugartown, LA, Lesa Bertoni (Mark) of Dixon, MO; brother, Steve Lacy (Sharon) of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Violet Moses of DeRidder, LA, Alice Wardlaw of Dayton, TX, Bonita Huddleston (Mark) of VanBuren, AR; sister-in-law, Lena Lacy of DeRidder, LA, Cheryl Lacy of DeRidder, LA; numerous step-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. A special thank you to Hospice of Leesville and appreciation is also extended to Rachelle Marcantel for her dedicated care provided during his last year and half.
