LaVonne "Bonnie"" Gallion's Obituary
Our beautiful mother was surrounded by her loved ones as she took Jesus’s hand. Even though we are no longer holding her hand, her legacy of love and strength will be steadfastly guiding us.
Those moving through grief are her children: Ronald “Ronnie” Martin, Sissy Gallion, Jason Gallion (Buffy) and Amanda Ferron (Jason) along with her grandchildren whom she cherished: Dylan Rogers, Jordan Gallion, Garrett Rogers, Brady Gallion, Caleb Gallion, Ariel and Gabe Ferron and her great grandbabies: Irelynn, Waylon, and Noah.
In addition, her brothers and their families stood unwaveringly by her side: Lloyd Elletson (Monika), Harvey Elletson (Tammy). Her nieces and nephews also might have been her children too as she loved each of them dearly.
Those who welcomed her at heaven’s gates are her brother, Miles Elletson and her parents, Glen Harvey and Lorraine (nee: Goyette) Elletson.
From a young age, family was Bonnie’s core, her definition of family included us, those she adopted along the way, friends who became family and people within our community. Community meant all people near and far for Bonnie as she traveled the world.
A large portion of her life was spent as a military spouse, a title that she held closely to her heart. She was extremely proud of all those who served in her family and tended to show that pride through volunteering and celebrating veterans and their families who served alongside them whenever possible. Another huge part of her heart was her years of bus driving, you can probably still find those who rode her bus who remember her heart, always asking about how they and their family were doing.
Lastly, while Bonnie often credited us as her reason for being, we cannot help to think the reverse, she gave us so many gifts along the way inclusive of her wit, determination, and values.
To honor and celebrate Bonnie, we will be gathering at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, La on Thursday, October 5, 2023. We will welcome all starting at 10 a.m. with service commencing at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s or Wounded Warriors Project, both were close to Bonnie’s heart.
