Funeral services for LaVonia M. Gourley, 69, of Leesville, LA will be 10:00 A. M. – Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, LA. The burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Leesville, LA
She passed away Friday, October 5, 2007 at Willis Knighton Hospital in Shreveport, LA.
Frinds may call from Sunday, October 7th from 6:00-10:00 PM at Labby Memorial Chapel and then Monday form 8 am until service time in the chapel.
LaVonia was born in Bunkie, LA. She was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Leesville. She retired from the Vernon Parish Health Unit after 20 years. She was a substitute teacher for the Vernon Parish Schools. And a worked a s a commissioner of elections in the area.
She as preceded in death by her son in law Donnie Shankle
LaVonia is survivied by her husband: Robert “Bob” Gourley of Leesville, LA; her children:Debra Ann Shankle of Leesville, Michael D (wife, Ruth A. Howlett) Gourley of Colorado Springs, CO, Keith Gourley of Leesville, LA, Donna (husband, Jose, III) Benavidez of Colorado Springs, CO; Sister: Patsy Robinson of Leesville, LA;
Grandchildren:Brandon Hillman, Bryan Hillman, Sommer Ann Gourley, Amanda White, Brittany White, Antonio Benavidez, Dominic Gourley, Sierra Gourley and Amber Benavidez and 6 Great Grandchildren.
