Larry grew up the son of a farmer on Virgil Sims Rd in Beauregard Parish, during that time he was an active 4-H member where he loved to raise livestock for show. He even had a pet skunk. At the farm he helped raised Tung trees where the nuts were harvested during the fall months of the year. On the Sims farm, Larry learned very valuable life lessons and how to work hard. When time allowed he enjoyed going to the Sugar Bowl on HWY 26, where he met his wife Miss Linda. After graduating Deridder High School, he attended Sowela Technical College in Lake Charles where he received a certificate in welding and machinist. He later worked for Berry Bros in Berwick, La for 40 plus years. He retired at the age of 68. He developed lifelong friendships during his tenure with Berry Bros. He loved to work with his hands and fabricate. Larry was always excited to get on his ole Massey Ferguson tractor to bush hog on his property and make improvements around his home. He was a devoted Husband who cherished his wife, children, & grandchildren. He loved his dog, Pumpkin, who for years was his sidekick and friend. He enjoyed going to Dairy Queen visiting with old friends and catching up on the latest Beauregard Parish news. Larry always took time out to say hello and help a friend in need. He will be missed dearly by all that knew him.
