Larry Gail Honea, Sr.
Funeral services for Larry Gail Honea, Sr., 64, of Dry Creek, Louisiana, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Dry Creek, Louisiana, with Rev. George Lee Glass and Rev. Charlie Bailey officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Dry Creek Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, and Wednesday, June 6, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Dry Creek Baptist Church.
Larry was born August 9, 1953, to Earnest Dwane and Altha Nettie Frusha Honea in DeRidder. He passed away Monday, June 6, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
Larry was a native and lifelong resident of the Dry Creek/Kipling, Louisiana, area and was a retired papermaker retiring from the Boise Cascade/PCA mill in DeRidder where he worked for 43 years. He had a strong work ethic and belief in work that has filtered down to his children and grandchildren. He loved the water and fishing. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. Larry’s family would like to thank Dr. Michael Broussard and his staff and the staff of Brighten Bridge Hospice.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Kathy Honea of Dry Creek; son, Larry “Bubba” Honea and companion Daphne of Dry Creek; daughter, Courtney Thompson and husband John of Dry Creek; brother, Gary D. Honea of DeRidder; sister, Diane Honea of Dry Creek; mother, Altha Honea of DeRidder; five grandchildren, Megan Strother, Frank Honea, Stephanie Thompson, Brooklynn Honea and Addyson Thompson; and one great grandson, Jackson Strother. Larry was preceded in death by his father and son, David A. Honea.
