Family. ....words bring little comfort during this difficult time. Our Heavenly Father, our creator desires and has the abilities to undo the effects of death. He promises at Hosea 13 : 14 to empty the grave of our loved ones from death. Tears of pain and sorrow will be replaced with tears of joy. One of my favorite teachers in highschool he always had some thing to say to me especially in formation! He rolled his eyes saying something funny to make me laugh then asking me to be serious! He had a special character I will never forget! He told me to run my hands after I painted my nails in class because thats how his wife dried her hands faster, at first I thought I was in trouble! It's just little conversations that flood my mind!! High school was the best because of the JROTC tight knit family we have. I have long life friends because of JROTC. Best three years of high school because of teachers like him!! May you Rest In Peace. Hope to see u again in heaven one day!
SFC Birchfield came to Permian High School in Odessa, TX from NMMI in Roswell NM. As my Assistant at first and then as my buddy. We shared many wonderful times together as we tried to be role models and mentors to our JROTC cadets. His sense of humor was beyond funny, it became a trademark that we all actually enjoyed. Each time I heard "Another one bites the dust" I knew that "SARGE" was suffering from a cadets miss. He would immediately assume the mission of becoming a personal motivator for that student and often would "will" that cadet to improve. "Birch" you will always be my friend and you will remain firmly entrenched in my heart.I salute You. Major
Sergeant Birchfield was my favorite teacher in high school my husband and I share stories about funny stuff that he said or did all the time. He was always there for me to talk to during some difficult times in high school. Prayers to all of his family and friends during this time for peace and comfort. He was a wonderful guy.
