Kenneth Wayne Slaydon's Obituary
Funeral services for Kenneth W. Slaydon, 56, of Leesville will be Thursday, October 30 at 3:00 p.m. in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Rev. Melton Mitchell will officiate. The burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery in Pickering, LA. Friends may call Wednesday, October 29th from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Thursday Oct. 30 from 8:00 a.m. until time of funeral at the funeral home.
Kenny was born on Feb. 03, 1952 to Willie M. and Catherine Slaydon. He passed Oct. 25, 2008 at his residence.
A lifelong resident of Vernon Parish, Kenny attended Pickering High School prior to his enlistment in the Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam. After his military service, he drove long haul for more than twenty years.
Kenny was a member of the Khe Sanh Veterans Association 8th Battalion 4th Field Artillery.
Kenny was a Life Member of VFW Post 3106 where he served as Post Commander 2003-2004, receiving National Honors as All American Commander and Team Captain.
Kenny was a member of American Legion Post 145 Disabled American Veterans Association.
He was avid fisherman. Kenny was a life member of Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.
Kenny was preceded in death by his beloved father Willie M. Slaydon and Step-Daughter Carol Ann Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirteen years Linda F. Slaydon of Leesville, La.; Honored Mother Catherine Slaydon of Leesville, La.; daughter Courtney Renee’ Slaydon of Huntsville, Al.; stepdaughter Teri Lee Evans of West Virginia; stepson Gary D. Jones of Arizona; granddaughters Madysen and Jardyn; step grandchildren Cole, Ashley, Jason, Dale, Trenton, Karoline and Avin; brothers Bobby Slaydon and wife Linda of Leesville, La. David Slaydon of Leesville, La and Danny Slaydon and wife Essie of Leesville, La.; sisters Dot Welch of New Llano, La. And Geraldine Foster and husband Dennis of Rosepine, La.; Nieces Trina Williams and Renee’ Roberson; nephews Ricky Mitchell, Timmy Foster, Josh & Jake Slaydon; and many Friends, Family and Comrades.
