Kelton Simmons' Obituary
Funeral services for Kelton Simmons, better known by those who loved him best as “Uncle Fats”, 45, of DeRidder, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in the Hopewell Baptist Church with Bro. Jake Williams and Bro. Joey Whitner officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 3:00 P.M- 9:00 P.M. at the church and Thursday, May 18 from 9:00 A.M. until time of service in the church.
Kelton was born on May 22, 1977 in DeRidder, LA. to his parents, Roy Burks and Zelmaree Bailey. He passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 in Lake Charles.
Kelton loved to cook and spend time with his nieces and nephews; he considered them his whole world. Kelton was a true “Mama’s Boy”; he loved making memories and taking care of his mama. He was a barrel of fun and the life of the party. Kelton had a heart that was bigger than he was and everyone who met him loved to be around him.
He is preceded in death by his father; Sister: Lisa Ann Felice; Fiancé: Carla Kemp Baker.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother: Ree Bailey; Son: Brodie Gest; Brothers: Shaston Gray (Rebecca), Waylon Simmons, Steven Burks (Anna); Sisters: Laurie Isbell (Derwin), Denese Bailey (Kelton) and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family.
