Funeral services for Keith L. Dowden, 52, of Anacoco will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Freedom Rest Baptist Church in Anacoco, Louisiana, with Rev. James Kay and Rev. Edwin McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearwater Cemetery in Florien, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, until, service time at the Church.
Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, Louisiana.
Keith Dowden was born in Many, Louisiana and entered eternal rest on March 21, 2009 at L.S.U. Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Keith worked 26 years on barges for Higman Barge Line out of Orange, Texas. He received his Tanker Man license in 1978. Keith was also a long haul driver at the time of his death.
Keith enjoyed meeting new people and making friends as the traveled the United States. He loved his family and shared some of his many adventures with them.
He was preceded in death by father Johnny Mack Dowden and step father Junior Hunter.
Keith is survived by wife of 8 years Christine Bruce Dowden of Anacoco, Louisiana; step-daughters, Sarah Miller of Stuttgart, Germany, Sally Ann Miller of Window Rock, Arizona, and Maryann & husband Ron Smyth of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Mother Mildred Hunter of Anacoco, Louisiana; sisters, Quin Hunter of Anacoco, Louisiana, and Lisa & husband Ken Welch of Anacoco, Louisiana; brothers Kevin Hunter of Anacoco, Louisiana, Randy Dowden of Houston, Texas and Jeffery Dowden of Anacoco, Louisiana; grandson Justin Smyth of Fayetteville, North Carolina; nieces Cassidy & Candice Sutton of Anacoco, Louisiana, and Jade Dowden of Houston, Texas; nephew Dillion Dowden of Houston, Texas and a host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.
