Kazuko "Kay"'s Obituary
Kazuko "Kay" (Sceets) Fugitt, age 86 years and 10 months, passed her final hurdle to be with the Lord in Heaven on June 21, 2014. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 25 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville. Funeral services will be in the Labby Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 26th, at 2 p.m., followed by burial thereafter at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Leesville. Rev. Edgar Evans will be officiating.
Kay was a rare person who excelled at common hobbies. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and occasional sewing, doing all of them very well.
She was married twice. The first was to George F. Sceets, Sr., for 35 years until he passed away in 1986. The second was to Robert H. Fugitt for the last 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Fugitt; two sons from her first marriage, George F. Sceets Jr. of Baytown, Texas, and Robert W. Sceets of New Llano; three grandchildren, Christine Sceets McWhorter of College Station, Texas, George N. Sceets III of San Antonio, Texas, and James A. Sceets of DeRidder.
She is also survived by step-daughters Julie Roberts and Mayte Johnson of Leesville, and Susan Solley of West Monroe.
Friendly to all, gracious in social circles, honest to a fault, and pure of heart, Kay was never heard to have uttered an expletive in either English or Japanese. The standards she lived by served all who knew her as exemplary of a beautiful soul.
Among her proudest moments in self-achievement was studying for and earning her U.S. Citizenship in 1955, raising her two sons, and later working more than 30 years as a successful Accounts Receivable Clerk within the Ft. Polk NAF System. She was very proud of her family and grandchildren.
Gratitude is extended to Dr. Donavan and Dr. Lord of Deer Creek Medical Clinic, Woodlands Nursing Home, and especially Harbor Hospice for their professional service.
Donations made in Kay's name in lieu of flowers may be directed to Harbor Hospice, 114 N. 11th Street, Oakdale, LA. 71463, 318-335-5029.
