Kathrine Sims Benson's Obituary
Funeral services for Kathrine Sims Benson, 85, of Leesville will be held Saturday, December 24, 2016, at 10 am at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Rev. Edgar Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Friday, December 23rd, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Kathrine was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi on February 3, 1931. She went home peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 21st.
Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her husband, the late James H. Benson and her parents, the late Fancy and Seaby Sims.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Benson Callaway of Shreveport and husband, William Lane Callaway and granddaughter, Amanda L. Callaway, both also from Shreveport and grandson, Michael D. Callaway of Melbourne, Florida. She is also survived by her son, Paul Randall (Randy) Benson of Leesville and wife, Susan Sliman Benson, granddaughter, Alexandria Benson, grandson, William T. Benson, and step-granddaughter, Rachael Gunter, all of Leesville. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Baize of Jackson, Mississippi and several nieces and nephews.
Kathrine was a career Federal Civil Service Employee at Fort Polk, retiring after 28 years of faithful service. She was also a member of Cooper Baptist Church for nearly sixty years. She served as the Sunday School secretary and teacher for numerous years at Cooper Baptist Church. Kathrine was an avid reader, loved to crochet, and enjoyed going to yard sales.
