Kathleen Genevive Pich's Obituary
Kathleen was the beloved daughter of Patrick and Patricia Beckcom O’Brien. Kathleen graduated from DeRidder High School in 1985 and Purdue University in Indiana with honors. Kathleen was given several awards upon graduation including being elected to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities by her professors. Kathleen was President of the Psychology Society Club at Purdue and represented Purdue University at the International Convention of Psychology Society Clubs in Toronto, Canada.
Kathleen worked at the Indianapolis 500 facility in the merchandising division, and left there to become the Executive Secretary and HR Director at Penske Truck Leasing’s Regional Office in Indianapolis. Roger Penske who now owns the Indianapolis 500 and track facility had Kathleen organizing the Breakfast of Champions for the Penske Racing Team Drivers and Teams and Sponsors before the Indianapolis 500 Race each year which included, Kathleen making a book with pictures and biographies of the Penske Race Team Drivers, Teams and Indy race cars.
Kathleen eventually moved back to Lake Charles, Louisiana to live with her significant other Mike Barr.
Kathleen was talented in many ways and had a big heart which included taking in rescue dogs. At one time she was caring for 6 rescue dogs for several years.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her wonderful mother Patricia Beckcom O’Brien.
Left to cherish her memory are her father Patrick O’Brien of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother Michael O’Brien of DeRidder, LA; and significant other Mike Barr of DeRidder, LA.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder. There will be a private family service later. In memory of Kathleen the family request donations be made to the Humane Society of West Louisiana, 13201 Lake Charles Hwy, DeRidder, LA 70634, 337.462.3321.
