Justin Hunter Cooley's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Justin Hunter Cooley, who left this world on May 1, 2026.
Justin was born on January 26, 1991, in DeRidder, Louisiana, and spent some of his childhood years in Yuma, Arizona, before returning home at the age of 7. He was a happy baby, raised by his mother, Christi Thompson, with his grandfather and grandmother, George Lester Huckabay and Mary Grace Lack, being major influences in his childhood. He grew up alongside his older sister, Ginni Kanges, sharing a bond that would last a lifetime.
Justin was a devoted son who adored his mother, a loyal and cherished friend, and above all, a loving father to his two daughters, Ariya and Adeline. His girls were the center of his world, and there was nothing he loved more than being their dad.
He graduated from DeRidder High School in 2009 and began his working career at Brookshire Brothers in 2007, where he formed many lifelong friendships. In 2010, Justin met the mother of his daughters, and in 2013 they welcomed their firstborn child, beginning the chapter of his life he treasured most—fatherhood.
Justin was a hardworking and dedicated provider. He spent several years working at PCA in DeRidder before transitioning in 2021 to a career at Benoit Ford, where he remained until 2024. He later worked in Port Sulphur and most recently at Southwestern Graphite.
Outside of work, Justin had a deep love for anime, gaming, and music—especially rap—and could often be found rapping along to his favorite artists. He had a gift for connection—he loved his friends deeply and never hesitated to tell them so. He was known for hosting gatherings at his home, especially when celebrating his daughters, creating memories that will be cherished by all who attended.
Justin will be remembered for his loyalty, his generous spirit, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His presence brought people together, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace, free from pain, and reunited with loved ones who went before him.
