Junius W. Carter's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Junius W. Carter, a beloved husband, devoted stepfather, cherished brother, and proud grandfather, who left this world on June 6, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born on October 16, 1932, in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, to the proud parents Walter F. Carter and Rosalee Stovall.
Junius lived a life marked by his unwavering dedication to family, hard work, and the wisdom he imparted to those around him. A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country with honor before returning to build a life rooted in love and commitment. He spent many years in maintenance with the Vernon Parish Housing Authority, where his work ethic was renowned. Even in his later years, Junius was known to work circles around younger men, a testament to his hardworking nature and determination.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and siblings, Irvin Carter, Gloria Neus, and Helen Stewart.
His legacy lives on through those he leaves behind, including his devoted wife, Gai Thi Roseborough of Leesville, who enjoyed a loving partnership filled with respect and unconditional love. He is also survived by his stepson, Isaac Roseborough of Nevada: stepdaughter, Tina Hannah of Mississippi; brothers, Albert Carter and Anderson Carter; sisters, Mary Robertson, Ophelia Carter, and Patricia Flugence, all of whom reside in Houma and four grandchildren.
Known for his forthrightness, Junius was the kind of man who would tell you exactly where you stood with him. His honesty was always tempered with love, particularly for his wife he loved her unconditionally. He always had pearls of wisdom to share.
His funeral service will be held on June 23, 2025, at 9:00 AM, at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery where family and friends will gather to celebrate his remarkable life and bid farewell to a truly honorable man. Services are under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Junius W. Carter, we thank you for your service, your love, and the indelible mark you left on our hearts. You will be profoundly missed, but your legacy will live on in the stories we share and the lives you touched.
