June M. Knudson's Obituary
June M. Knudson, 90, DeRidder, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, in a Lake
Charles acute care center.
She was born June 2, 1920 at South Range, Wis., the daughter of
Hjalmar and Bertha Marie (Bengtson) Larson. She was married to Albert
L. Knudson on Nov. 5, 1939, at Carlton, Minn. They lived in DeRidder
from 1944-49 and again since 1997. They celebrated their 64th wedding
anniversary in 2003. He preceded her in death in 2004.
She attended Broadlands Bible Church and was a member of Broadlands
VFC and the Silver Foxes, where she was known as "The Champ" at
Scrabble, Rummikub and Hands and Feet Canasta. She also loved
crossword puzzles and playing her husband's mother's zither.
She is survived by one daughter, Lois Pitzele, Lake Nebagamon; four
sons, Tom (Cheryl), West Bend, Wis., Phill (Ami), San Angelo, Tex.,
Don (Candy), Tamarack, Minn., and Carl, DeRidder; 15 grandchildren, 7
great-grandchildren, a cousin in Sweden, and numerous nieces, nephews
and other friends and relatives.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Labby Funeral Home,
DeRidder, with Pastor Tim Bergen officiating. Visitation will be from
5-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, and from 9 a.m. until time of service
Tuesday. Burial will be in Beauregard Cemetery.
