Our condolences to all of you, you are in our prayers.
To all her dear loved ones,\r\nJoyce or \"Mamaw\" as the children called her, was the best beginning we all could have ever had. She took care of Allison 3 1/2 years and Catherine for 1 1/2 years until we moved from DeRidder to Lake Charles (1988-1992.She had the patience of Job with Allison who had colic for 5 months and rarely slept more than 3 hours at a time. She would bounce Allison on her lap to help with the distress. I was sure she had the endurance of a long-distance runner given her stamina to bounce Allison endlessly while she was fussy! I think because of all her efforts with Allison(lots of awake moments!), they had a very special bond. She was so thoughtful and kind to Allison and Catherine. Catherine became a favorite of Alfred's too! Mamaw loved to tell stories about Catherine's sense of humor and mischievious ways. Catherine tickled her. Best of all, because of her, the girls still love greens that she and Alfred grew and Joyce cooked for all of us. \r\n\r\nDavid and I learned so much from her as new and inexperienced parents. I will always be thankful for her wisdom and presence in our lives. We were truly blessed to know her. Everyone loved her and in everyone's eyes, she left the world a better place! We will all miss her happy smile and kind and gentle ways. \r\n\r\nWith sincere condolences and love to her family,\r\n\r\nPat, Allison, and Catherine Post
I will always remember Mawmaw as a kind and generous woman who took great care of me and my sister- we loved all of the animals they kept and the greens she cooked! She is my favorite memory of DeRidder. I will miss her warmth and love.
