Funeral services for Joyce Annette “Annie” Simmons, 77, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 3 PM Monday, March 13, 2017, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. LA, with Rev. Lindsey Burns and Rev. Tim Bergen officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 12, 2017, from 5 PM until 9 PM, and continue Monday, March 13, 2017, from 1 PM until time of the service, all at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
“Annie” was born on September 9, 1939, to Omar Ray and Lillian Ruth Collins Switzer in DeRidder. She passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017, in Westwood Manor Nursing Home in DeRidder. She lived most of her life in DeRidder. She was a retired secretary with the Beauregard Parish School Board and a member of First Baptist Church in DeRidder where she was a member of the Joy Singers and had taught Sunday School. She enjoyed painting with the RealArt Gallery in DeRidder. She dearly loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by son Steve (Caryn) Simmons and daughter Leslie (Al) Flores, both of DeRidder; two sisters, Dodie (Sam) Moses of DeRidder and Blanche Webb of Wadesboro, NC; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Sproles, Kyle Simmons, Kovey Simmons, Karley Kinnison, Anna Flores, Ellen Flores-Cormier and Joey Flores; two great grandchildren, Evangeline Sproles and Lennon Sproles.
