Joshua Fate Whitaker, 47, passed away on May 27, 2026. Born on January 13, 1979, Joshua lived a life full of laughter, hard work, creativity, and deep love for his family and friends.
Joshua was married to the love of his life, Kristi Whitaker, for 10 wonderful years. Together they built a family filled with love, memories, and devotion.
He is survived by his sons, Joshua Jay Whitaker (Cheyenne), and Logan Whitaker (Sam); daughters, Sara Fontenot (Adam), Daisy Whitaker, Charli Whitaker, and Carli Whitaker; brother, Charles Whitaker (Carmen); sister, Rachel Whitaker; mother, Loretta Phillips Whitaker; mother-in-love, Virginia Lambert; mother of the heart, Carol Ashworth; grandchildren, HayHay and Autumn; brothers from another mother, Mikey Poe and Jason Whitaker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Whitaker.
Joshua was known for his funny personality, outgoing spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need. He never met a stranger and could make conversation with just about anyone. Family meant everything to him, and he especially cherished the time he spent with his children and grandbabies.
He loved the beauty in flowers and in nature, a creative soul that showed through his woodworking, and a deep love for the outdoors. Joshua was also known as quite the collector, always gathering treasures and unique finds that caught his eye. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including sharing stories, laughter, and the taste of a cold beer among friends and family.
Joshua’s presence brought warmth, humor, and comfort to those around him. Though his passing leaves an emptiness that can never truly be filled, the memories he created and the love he shared will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
Visitation will be held on June 2, 2026 from 4pm until 9pm and again on June 3, 2026 at 8am until the time of service at 10am with Rev. Timothy Stephens and Rev. Henry Stephens officiating at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana.
