Joseph Zane Simmons' Obituary
Funeral services for Joseph Zane Simmons, 74, of Evans, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 in the Evans Congregational Methodist of Evans with Bro. Donnie Paul Lewing & Bro. George Jeane officiating. Burial will follow in the Evans Cemetery in Evans.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 5:00 P.M until time of service in the church.
Joseph was born on December 2, 1946 in Evans, Louisiana to his parents, Stewart Joseph & Bertie Mae Byrd Simmons. He passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Lake Charles.
Joe was most likely to be found on a tractor or drinking coffee. He was happiest surrounded by family. He loved taking his great grandkids for rides on the tractor. He was the prime example of a Godly man. He was known highly to the people in his community for his large gardens he planted every year that he shared with everyone in the community. His favorite thing was being a PawPaw.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Joyce Simmons, son; Jerome Simmons; brothers; Charles Simmons, Ted Simmons, sister; Nancy McDonald.
Left to cherish his memory is his son; Joel Simmons of Evans, LA., daughter; Jennifer Minion of Evans, LA., brother; Jesse Simmons (Loretta) of Orange, TX., sister; Lettie Jeane of Evans, LA., grandchildren; Caleb Minion, Lillie Willis (Kyle), Hunter Minion, great grandchildren; Kason Minion, Cooper Minion, Magnolia Willis, Vidalia Willis and Carter Willis.
