Joseph "Joe" Piro's Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph “Joe” Piro will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday January 7, 2007 in the East Leesville Baptist Church with the Rev. Gil Arthur and Bro. Richard Reese officiating.
Mr. Piro passed away January 4, 2007 at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Leesville at the age of 59.
Joseph Piro was born February 17, 1948 in Poughkeepsie, New York and was a resident of Anacoco, La for most of his life. He was named after his Grandfather, who immigrated to the U.S. from Italy.
Joe graduated from Anacoco High School in 1967. He received his bachelor degree, Masters and +30 from Northwestern State University. He was a history teacher at Leesville Junior High and Anacoco High School. He took a medical retirement after 16 years of teaching. He then worked for the Anacoco Water System, and served as Mayor of Anacoco from 1992-2000. He was a member of East Leesville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Barbara M. Piro of Anacoco, La.; His Son – Paul L. and wife Marie Piro of Leesville, La.; His Daughter – Jocelyn Piro-Warren and husband Don Warren of Anacoco, La.; His Aunts – Nell Allmon of Leesville, and Elaine Jessop of Leesville; His sister – Dianne Rhoads; His Brother – Dawayne Jannise; 2 nieces and 5 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Louis Piro and Dorothy Laverne Warden Wyatt, and one daughter Kaye Suzanne Piro.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday January 7, 2007 in the Slack Memorial Cemetery in Springhill Louisiana under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
