Johnny O. Haynes' Obituary
Funeral services for Johnny O. Haynes, 81, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, November 15, 2010, in The First United Methodist Church, in DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Mike McLaurin officiating. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral home in DeRidder. Visitation will be Sunday, November 14, 2010, from 4 P.M. until 9 P.M., in Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, and from 10 A.M. until time of the service, Monday, November 15, 2010, in The First United Church in DeRidder. Mr. Haynes passed away Friday, November 12, 2010.
Johnny was born in Shongaloo, LA, to Johnnie Edgar Haynes and Addie Norvelle Mayfield Haynes. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in
Forestry. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea during the Korean War. After graduating from LSU, he worked for International Paper Co. in Springhill, LA, as a conservation forester and later for the Boise Southern Plywood Mill in Minden, LA as a procurement forester. He was an independent wood dealer for thirty years and was most recently a real estate developer. Johnny was a member of the First United Methodist Church of DeRidder where he previously served as a trustee and a member of the finance committee. He was a member of the Board of Directors of City Savings Bank and Trust Co., Inc. in DeRidder, a member of the Louisiana Forestry Association and a member of Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Barbara Haynes of DeRidder; two sons, David Charles Haynes of Angel Fire, NM, and Michael Buchanan Haynes and wife Patches of Austin, TX; two daughters, Patricia Haynes Loe and husband Steve of Allen, TX, and Gena Haynes Chreiteh and husband Haitham of Peach Tree City, GA; brother, Charles Odell Haynes and wife Doris of Nacogdoches, TX; sister, Mary Haynes King and husband Wayne of Springhill, LA; and five grandchildren, Gena Loe, Steffi Loe, Leila Chreiteh, Adam Chreiteh and Zac Chreiteh. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Crystelle Haynes Warner and brother, Billy Glen Haynes. Words of comfort may be left to the Haynes family at www.labbymemorial.com.
