Johnny Edminston's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Johnny Lee (Eberson) Edminston A.K.A. Ace, a former army paratrooper veteran and dedicated Walmart employee. Johnny was a beloved member of the Ellen Burr Baptist Church, where he had participated in church activities and served his community.
Johnny was born on March 12, 1949, to his loving parents Jim Eberson and Mary Elizabeth Bridges. He grew up alongside his brother James, with whom he shared many childhood adventures. Johnny was preeding in death by his father, mother, and brother. As a young man, Johnny felt a strong calling to serve his country, and he enlisted in the army, eventually becoming a paratrooper. His bravery and commitment to duty were commendable, and his fellow soldiers held him in high regard. He earned Good Conduct Medal (2d award), Army Service Ribbon, Expert Badge with Rifle Bar, Army Aviation Badge Basic, Parachutist Badge Basic, Army Achievement Medal, and Overseas Service Ribbon.
After his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant (E6), Johnny embarked on a new chapter of his life. He joined the Walmart team, where he was recognized for his loyalty, dedication, and cooperation. He was also recognized as the Retailer of the year in 1989. Johnny's friendly demeanor and willingness to go above and beyond made him highly regarded by both his coworkers and customers.
As much as Johnny loved his country and his work, his true joy came from his relationship with Shirley Jones, the love of his life. They shared a deep and unbreakable bond, creating a lifetime of memories together. Sadly, Shirley preceded Johnny in death, leaving a void in his heart that could never be filled.
Johnny's legacy of kindness, loyalty, and devotion will forever be remembered by those who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and members of the Ellen Burr Baptist Church.
A memorial service to celebrate Johnny Edminston's life will be held at the Ellen Burr Baptist Church on September 2, 2023 at 1100 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Ellen Burr Baptist Church in Johnny's memory.
May Johnny Edminston rest in eternal peace, knowing he made a positive impact on the lives of others during his time here on earth.
