Johnny Norman Bolton's Obituary
Johnny Norman Bolton, 75, passed away from this life and entered eternal life with Jesus Christ on August 17, 2024. He was born on January 7, 1949 in Slagle, LA to John & Ruby Bolton. Johnny was a devoted Christian and was a man of great strength in Jesus, who never missed an opportunity to witness and speak words of encouragement to everyone he met.
After graduation from Hicks High School, Johnny enlisted in the Air Force and served active duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as Veteran of War. Once discharged, he attended Northwestern State University earning a bachelor’s degree in business. He practiced as a refrigeration HVAC mechanic, owning his own business for a number of years and eventually earned retirement from Fort Polk as a Quality Assurance Inspector for the Aviation Department.
Johnny married the love of his life, Carolyn Clawson Bolton on June 29, 1974. Together they raised two children and lived a simple, happy life of 43 years filled with love and joy with friends until Carolyn’s passing on August 17, 2017. It must be stated that Johnny and Carolyn both passed away in the early morning hours on the 17th of August exactly 7 years apart. This is an incredibly unique occurrence; giving the family a truly clear confirmation from above that “God is in control.” This timing was a message to the family Johnny and Carolyn were reunited on this day in Heaven. What a rejoicing it must have been!
Johnny’s love for life extended to simple pleasures, such as his passion for the Great Outdoors; especially his never wavering pursuit of the Whitetail deer. He also enjoyed fishing and in his earlier years, taking his family camping in stunning places that will never be forgotten. Most of all, Johnny loved his Church and always looked forward to being present for services and volunteering for any event he could. It was evident Johnny loved all of his friends dearly and would spend much of his leisure time visiting and encouraging them. He was truly a good supportive friend to have in your corner.
Johnny leaves behind a legacy of loving family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all, but his lasting impressions will live on forever in the hearts and memories of all that knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Scott (Trisha) Bolton of Lake Charles, LA, Todd (Megan) Bolton of Alexandria, LA. Grandchildren Noah John Bolton, Abbigail Bolton, Grant Bolton, Aubree Bolton, Kallie Nunez (Hunter) and Logan Duhon. Brothers Raymond (Donna) Bolton of Rawlings, Maryland, Richard Bolton of South Carolina, sister Ann Bolton of Leesville, LA.
Johnny is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carolyn Bolton, father John Bolton and mother Ruby Bolton, and sisters Eunice Spears and Judy Provost.
Through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ, Johnny left this world with one last message to us all: to believe and have faith in the Creator and seek His will for your life. Never lose sight of what really matters and have perseverance through life’s obstacles with unwavering faith.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, LA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Family Worship Center in Leesville, LA. Burial will follow in the Old Leesville Cemetery.
