Johnnie Carroll Knox, Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral services for Johnnie Carroll Knox, Sr., 75, of DeRidder, will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Turning Point Apostolic Church with Bro. Eddie Ricks officiating. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville with Naval Military Honors. Funeral services under the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 5:00 P.M until 10:00 P.M., and again on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
Johnnie was born on November 26, 1948, to Allen Vernon Knox, Sr. and Margorie Bledsoe Knox. He passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Beauregard Hospital in DeRidder with his family by his side.
He joined the United States Navy in 1971, serving in Vietnam. He retired with honorable discharge in 1991 retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. After his military retirement, he then worked at Fort Polk, now Fort Johnson, for many years.
He loved spending time with family and watching all his grandchildren run and play. He was always outside planting flowers, and was proud of all the flowers that sprouted as he thought he had a green thumb.
Johnnie never met a stranger, he greeted everyone with a smile and a peppermint he always kept in his pocket. He loved going to church and was a strong Christian. He loved volunteering at Turning Point Christian Academy.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Allen and Margorie Knox; brother: Dale Austin “Corky” Knox; sister: Linda Knox.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years: Judy Knox of DeRidder; sons: Johnnie Knox and Katie of DeRidder, David Knox and Maddie of Shreveport; brother: Vernon Allen Knox, Jr., and Andrea of Powder Springs, GA; sister: Tracy Rinehart and Mike of Los Osos, CA; grandchildren: Alex Knox and Aaren of DeRidder, Carissa Knox of DeRidder, Alexis Knox-Bautista and John of Waynesville, MO, Haleah Knox of DeRidder, David Knox of DeRidder; great-grandchildren: Stella Knox, Gracie Knox, Rebecca Knox, Aurora Knox, Jonathan Knox, Maisie Knox, Zaveah Knox.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Johnnie Knox, David Knox, Sr., David Knox II, Alex Knox, and Steve Kauffman.
