John Burton Sanders' Obituary
Memorial services for John Burton Sanders, be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
John Burton Sanders was born on September 25th, 1935 in Arcola, Louisiana to his parents Harold Ingloe Sanders and Lula Morgan Sanders. John was the youngest and last surviving of 6 brothers: Fulton, Harold, Harold, Robert, Francis and Aubrey.
John moved to Orange, TX in his early years and graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in 1953. He received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology from Lamar University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Dental School in Houston, TX. He served his time in the Army receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1963.
John returned to Orange, Tx with his wife, Edwina Maass Sanders and opened his Family Dental Practice and raised his children until his retirement in 2005.
He loved the outdoors and the simple philosophy of living off the land. John took pride in teaching his children how to hunt and fish, which today those outdoor experiences have left his children with great memories. His weekends were spent on his prized vegetable and fruit garden in Sugartown, LA and serving large family meals.
John is survived by his wife, Edwina Sanders, six children: Virginia Sanders, David Sanders, Matthew & Ann Marie Sanders, Joseph Sanders, Timothy & Denise Sanders, Katherine Sanders & Darren Anderson and three grandchildren: Zachary Sanders, Krista Sanders and Alexis Anderson.
John was a life- long member of the Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge in Orange, Tx.
