John E. McDaniel
Funeral services for John Everett McDaniel, 71, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 2 PM, Friday, September 23, 2016, at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, with Rev. Greg Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2016, from 5 PM until 9 PM and Friday, from 9 AM until time of the service in the funeral home.
John was born November 12, 1944, in Oakdale, LA, to John and Elberta Willis McDaniel. He passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016, in St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, TX. He grew up in Elizabeth, LA and joined the U. S. Air Force after graduating from Elizabeth High School and served overseas in Germany. After his honorable discharge he went to work for Calcasieu Paper Company in Elizabeth where he was Supply Room Supervisor for over twenty years. After the plant closed he was a self-employed electrical, heating and air conditioning contractor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. John loved life, his children and grandchildren. He was always positive with a great sense of humor.
He is survived by three sons, John Everett, III of Sulphur, LA, Steve Parker Simpson (Lisa) of DeRidder, and John Joseph Simpson (Michelle) of Moss Bluff, LA; four daughters, Sheila M. Jones (Cotton) of Oakdale, LA, Mica McDaniel of Elizabeth, Sara McDaniel of Leesville, LA and Brette Rae McDaniel of Lake Charles, LA; two brothers, Walter McDaniel of Oakdale and Alton McDaniel of Oberlin, LA; one sister, Virginia Day of Shreveport, LA; nine grandchildren, one great grandson; and the “Love of His Life” Barbara Jeane. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathy Delia McDaniel, daughter, Myra Lynn McDaniel, brother, Rayburn McDaniel and sister, Lillian McDaniel Thompson.
