John Edward Loftin's Obituary
John E. Loftin, 81, of Rosepine, passed from this life on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side. John was born on Tuesday, April 4, 1941, in Rosepine to Arnold E. and Hazel Myers Loftin.
Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
John grew up in Rosepine, meeting his soulmate, Louise, at the young age of 22, marrying 1 year later. They were married 58 years. He was a member of Diamond Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a foreman at Allied Chemical in Baton Rouge, and retired after 25 years of working as a boiler operator at Fort Polk. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His passion was working outdoors, which usually involved his garden, sawmill, old trucks, or tractors.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Louise Loftin of Rosepine; son, Glen E. Loftin (Katie Tilley) of Rosepine; daughter, Shelia Loftin Rogers (Jason) of DeRidder; sister-n-law, Kim Loftin of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Daniel Loftin, Zachary Rogers, Wayne Loftin, and Parker Rogers; one great-grandchild on the way; and a host of extended family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Hazel Loftin; brother, Gary Loftin; sister and brother-n-law, Linda Loftin Sutton and Ted Sutton.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Daniel Loftin, Zachary Rogers, Parker Rogers, Jason Rogers, Billy Frazier, and Steve Smith.
Honored to serve as an honorary pallbearer is Wayne Loftin.
