John Kenneth "Kenny" Pelt, Sr's Obituary
John Kenneth Pelt, Sr., 69, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, in Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. Kenny was born on November 7, 1946, to James Arthur Pelt, Sr. and Alice MayBelle Johnson Pelt in Fullerton, LA. He worked in the wood industry most of his life as a logger and attended Shady Grove Pentecostal Church.
Kenny is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jeanette Johnson Pelt of DeRidder and great granddaughter Cloe Marie White. He is also survived by six children; Tammy Johnson and husband Lynn of Rosepine, LA, John K. and wife Stacie Pelt, Jr. of Rosepine, Timmy J. Pelt of Rosepine, Kevin Pelt and wife Chelsie of Rosepine, Mandi White and husband Raymond of DeRidder, and Angie Pelt and Kurt Castete of Ragley, LA; twenty-two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He also had four stepchildren; Monica Cantrell and husband Steven of Hitchcock, TX, Paul Pruitt, Jr. of DeRidder, Tanya Smith of Toledo Bend, LA and Billy Wisby and wife Angela of Pitkin, LA; eight step grandchildren and thirteen step great grandchildren; brothers Garland Pelt, James Pelt, Jr. and sister Bobbie Diez of Galvez, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert “Tinker” Pelt, Larry “Blue” Pelt and Alton W. Pelt; sisters, Minnie Lee “Turbie” Leamer and Rosa Lee Moffit.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2016, at 2 P.M. in Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church, DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Jeff Phillips officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 6 P.M. until 9 P.M. in Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, and from 12 P.M. until time of the service in the church. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
