John Booth "Johnny" Jones, III's Obituary
Funeral services for John Booth “Johnny” Jones, III, 76, of DeRidder, Louisiana will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Deridder with Rev. Lamar Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in the Beauregard Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 1st from 10:00 am until time of service at the church.
John Booth Jones III, was born August 3, 1939, in DeRidder to Booth and Winona (Nona) Olds Jones, a pioneer family of Beauregard Parish.
Johnny graduated from DeRidder High in 1957. He obtained his degree from LSU in Business Administration. Johnny was commissioned as an office in the Air Force served in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict and attained the rank of Captain. He worked for Exxon before returning home to DeRidder where he was owner and manager of Jones Tractor Co. Johnny was elected to the DeRidder City Council & served as President. He was Secretary Treasurer of the Beauregard Police Jury & later served as Manager of the Beauregard Parish airport. Johnny served on the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee at the First United Methodist Church where he was an active member. Johnny and Brenda loved traveling around the word with their good friends. Johnny had the most beautiful plants in the DeRidder area. He loved being a master gardener.
Those left behind to share the great memories of Johnny are his wife, Brenda Bishop Jones; sons, Chris & (Kelle) of DeRidder and Jeff & (Kayla) of Mandeville; three grandchildren; one great grandchild and brother, Dr. David Jones & wife Carolyn of DeRidder.
