John Ellis Harvey's Obituary
Funeral services for John Ellis Harvey, 84, of Leesville, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Canaan Baptist Church in Leesville with Rev. Morris Dale Goins and Rev. Melvin Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 16th from 6 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, May 17th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
John Ellis Harvey was born on October 17, 1929, to Floyd and Irene Harvey of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Private First Class. After his service in the Army, he became a heavy equipment operator at. Ft. Polk, Louisiana until he retired in 1975. Ellis was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. He also loved to cook. He always had a delicious meal prepared in the afternoon for his family. He was a member of the Canaan Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He passed from this life on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at his home on Anacoco Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jessie Eloise Harvey of Leesville; daughters, Kathy Jarrell & husband, Rickie of Evans, LA and Anita Harvey & husband, Johnny Fletcher of Leesville, LA; son dad never had, Kevin Jeane; sister, Teresa Sargent of Pittsburg, TX; brothers, Floyd Harvey & wife Sue of Houston, TX and Jimmy Harvey & wife Rita of Pittsburg, TX; grandchildren, Tanya Jeane & husband Mike, Jamie Fitzgerald & husband John, Jessica Boyd, Christina Wilkinson & husband Robert, Mark Ward & wife Catherine; great grandchildren, Dawson Jeane, Paige Boyd, Mason Fitzgerald, Mollie Wilkinson, Sydney Fitzgerald and Maggie Wilkinson and a host of nieces and nephews.
