Dr. John Thomas Griffin M.D.'s Obituary
Dr. John Thomas Griffin, M.D., 52, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, September 2, 2022, in the Beauregard Health Systems in DeRidder. John, the son of Dr. Thomas “Doc” Eugene Griffin, III and Elizabeth Jeane Taylor Griffin, was born on Friday, April 3, 1970, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Graveside Service will be Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM, in the Maxie Methodist Cemetery in Crowley, LA, with Lay-Minister Bobby Thompson and Pastor Hillis Jeffries, III, pastor of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of DeRidder, officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
John graduated from Southwestern Adventist Academy in 1988. He went on to get a bachelor’s degree in science in 1992 from the Southwestern Adventist College. He earned his doctorate degree in medicine in 1998 from the Louisiana State University.
Left to cherish his memory are his step-mother, Cli Ann McGehee Pittman Griffin; sister-in-law, Sharon Leonard Griffin; step-sisters, Brina Pittman Leroux and her husband Gillies, and Amy Pittman and her husband Patrick Reeves; step-brother, Geoffrey Pittman and his wife Alexandra; step-nieces and nephews, Alexi and Andre Leroux, Camden Pittman, Austin Griffin and his wife Lori, Timothy Witt and his wife Amber, Brandon Witt and his wife Cayla, and Lauren Broussard and her husband David; step-great nieces and nephews, Noah, Liam, Lizzy, Benjamin, and Amelia; aunts, Paula Domingue, Myra Schwinn and her husband Roger, Freida Barousse, and Del Prejean and her husband John; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Elizabeth Griffin; brother, Emil Paul Griffin.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Austin Griffin, Timothy Witt, Brandon Witt, Bobby Thompson, Lee Thompson, and Cory Thompson.
