John Edwin Covington's Obituary
Funeral services for John Edwin Covington, 89, of Simpson will be 1:00 PM, Friday, October 1st at the Simpson 1st Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Nat Dutton officiating. Burial will follow in the Welcome Cemetery in Simpson. Friends may call from 5 PM Thursday, Sept 30th until service time in the church Friday. The services are under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Ed, the son of Hubert Lanzo and Elsie Ruth Harris Covington was born on April 24, 1921 in Black Springs, Arkansas. He passed away on Wednesday, September 29th in Alexandria, LA.
He served in the US Navy and was a World War II Veteran. He retired as an equipment operator within the Electrical Distribution field. During his retirement years he loved to garden, cook, and truly enjoyed the outdoors. Ed loved to entertain and spend time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren. Ed will always be remembered for his Love of the Lord and his gift of Giving.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Charlarose Covington; son, Billy Thomas Covington and his brother Thomas Jackson Covington.
He is survived by his children, Gary Covington of Big Fork, AR; Rhonda (husband, Bo) Murray of Belle Chase, LA; Ruth Moore of Anchorage, AK; Nita (husband, Jason) Morris of Black Springs, AR; Jackie (husband, Ray) James of Black Springs, AR; Jonnie Mae ( husband, Jerry) Lyons of Oden, AR; Steve ( wife, Leann) Phillips of Vinton, LA; Mark (wife, Tracy) Patton of Bridge City, TX; Cheryl (husband, Clarence) Smith of Fields, LA; Sharon Kay Fletcher of Addison, TX and Gerald (wife, Angela) Williams of Simpson, LA; Sisters, Catherine Smith of Gurdon, AR and Sue (husband, John) Smith of Fayetteville, TN; 22 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
