Joe Chaney's Obituary
Funeral services for Joe Chaney 57, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in the Dry Creek Baptist Camp Tabernacle with Bro. Don Barrett & Bro. Curt Iles officiating. Burial will follow in the Dry Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 5:00 P.M - 9:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, January 24th from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.
Joe was born on September 30, 1966 in Oakdale, LA to his parents, Charles Leroy and Effie Cady Chaney. He passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Joe loved life. He enjoyed making people laugh and never met a stranger; Joe had many friends; from Dry Creek, LA to the outer banks of Alaska, there was always someone that would call him by name. He loved traveling with Linda and greatly enjoyed being in the mountains. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; a trait he shared and passed on to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joe loved children and children everywhere loved him as well. He had a kind heart and a giving spirit that made him a favorite among all the kids. He enjoyed raising chickens and living a country life. Most of all, Joe loved his children and grandchildren; they were the greatest joy and source of pride in his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Leroy and Effie Chaney; siblings: Leroy Chaney Jr., Spencer Chaney, Mark Chaney; nephews: Hearn Marler, Ken Chaney, Jock Thacker.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years: Linda Chaney of Dry Creek, LA; children: Amy Sharp & husband Dale of DeRidder, LA, Altus Gaspard & wife Trina of Fairview, LA, Tonya Gaspard of Dry Creek, LA, Tray West & wife Kristen of Dry Creek, LA, Alicia Pendley & husband Matt of Dry Creek, LA; siblings: Allen Chaney & wife Nell of Dry Creek, LA, Ed Chaney of Dry Creek, LA, Loretta Chaney of Reeves, LA, Marsha Jurquet & husband Gilbert of Dry Creek, LA; grandchildren: Zack Gaspard, Frank Honea & wife Jordan, Loraligh Gaspard, Hunter Sharp, Chloe Cooley & husband Garrett, Myia Mahaffey, Dalton Mahaffey, Mat Sharp, Kadie Mahaffey, Karson West, Ariah Pendley, June West, Annabeth Pendley; great grandchildren: Daxton Honea, Taysom Honea, Addie Cooley, Autumn Cooley; and a great multitude of nieces, nephews and other family.
