Joann Sewell's Obituary
Joann Sewell went home to Jesus on November 6th, 2020. Joann was born on August 5th, 1939 in Allen, Oklahoma to sharecroppers Doyle William and Ollie Ethel Nix. As a child, she excelled in school and participated in her school’s drama program. As a military wife, Joann traveled to many states settling permanently in Leesville, Louisiana in 1971. Living in Leesville Joann raised a family and worked many jobs including a seamstress at Jordache and a Walmart associate. Joann was an active member of Anacoco Church of Christ. She enjoyed bird watching, berry picking, and being “in the country.”
Left to cherish her memory are her sister Sue Harper of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter Pam Sewell of Leesville, La; daughter Cindy Sewell of Pineville, La; son Ben Sewell of Kuwait; son David Gene and wife Martha Sewell of Canyon Lake, Texas; daughter Becky and husband Ricky Stephens of Anacoco, La; three grandchildren Kayli and Tyler Stephens of Anacoco, La and Adrian Sewell of Denver, Colorado.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Leon, Jack, Posey, Gene, and Vernon Nix; sisters: Irene Doyle, Geneva Smith, and Balpha Collins.
The memorial services will be held Tuesday, November 10th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville.
