Joan Marie Peterson Schmidt, 77, of Anacoco, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, September 7, 2019 in Anacoco, LA. Joan, the daughter of Harold and Vivian (Cantrell) Peterson was born on September 18, 1941, in Helena, Montana.
Visitation will begin Monday, September 16, 2019, from 9:00 AM until Funeral Service begins at 11:00 AM, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA with Pastor James T. Byrd and Mr. Rodney Leach officiating. Internment will follow at Johnson Bailey Cemetery, Providence, LA.
Joan enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning, loved to read, and collecting Christmas villages. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended Mercy Bible Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Scott Dietz of Oklahoma, David Schmidt of Spokane, WA; daughters, Colette Cress of Fleming, CO, Theresa Bailey, Anacoco, LA, Vicky Waterbury (Ricky) of Carlyss, LA, Lisa Peterson of Kalispell, MT; brothers, Donald Peterson (Joni) of Provo, UT, Wayne Peterson (Kathy) of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; sister, Linda Paulson (Tom) of Libby MT; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her father, Harold Peterson.; mother, Vivian (Cantrell) Peterson; husband, Eugene Schmidt; husband, Melvin Dietz; brother, Kennith James Peterson, sister, Aunt Cookie Hill; and granddaughter, Leeann Cress.
Serving as pallbearers are Thomas Bailey, Jonathan Roberts, Robie Egnor, R. J. Egnor, Cobie Egnor, and Nicholas Kennedy. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Maddix Welch, Caidance Welch, Derek Welch, Eli Bailey and Jaylen Roberts.
