Joan Leita Butler's Obituary
Funeral services for Joan Leita Butler, 80, of DeRidder, LA will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Broadlands Bible Church near DeRidder with Rev. Tim Bergen officiating. Burial will follow in Barentine Cemetery in Longville, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Mrs. Butler passed from this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 9 AM until time of the service at 1:00 PM in Broadlands Community Church.
She is survived by two sons, Lonnie Butler and wife Catherine and Sherman Butler and wife Margaret, all of DeRidder; one brother, A. D. Loftin of DeRidder; two sisters, Joy Lindsey of Longville, LA, and Neita Hawthorn of West Monroe, LA; five grandchildren, Miranda Butler-Swanger, Mike Butler, Angela Lewis, Jared “Tony” Butler, and Carrie Jurey; fourteen great grandchildren and one great, great, grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Asa Butler and sister, Billie Bennett.
Joan was born on Saturday, February 16, 1935, to Drew and Myrtle McConathy Loftin in DeRidder, Louisiana. She lived most of her life in DeRidder and was the Administrative Secretary for the Beauregard Baptist Association for thirty-one years. She was a member of Broadlands Bible Church and a member of the ladies Auxiliary. Joan passed from this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Donations may be made to the Broadlands Bible Baptist Church in her memory.
