Jimmy Clark Bond's Obituary
Jimmy Clark Bond, 89, entered peacefully into rest on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Rosepine Retirement in Rosepine. Jimmy was born on March 22, 1935 in Dido, LA to Seaborn Perry and Lydia Stracner Bond.
Visitation will begin Thursday November 21, 2024, from 11:00 AM until the time of the service which begins at 2:00 PM, at Labby Memorial Chapel in DeRidder with Rev. Alfred Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Jimmy was a man of God and a true servant to Him. He faithfully donated to many organizations around DeRidder such as the Baptist Building Fund, the food box, and to New Life Church. He also help reestablish the prayer room and First Baptist Church of DeRidder.
Jimmy met the love of his life, Rachel Kiper, and they were married on December 2, 1958 and was a faithful companion to her. He planted a rose garden for his beloved wife and built their home to how she wanted it ensuring that she was happy and felt loved. On their property he planted by hand over 10,000 pine trees. Their pride and joy was their children where he ensured that he sent them all to college, and his grandchildren which he adored and loved. He had a kind heart and was soft spoken, giving kind words and a steady hand to anyone. He will be greatly missed by all those that loved him.
Jimmy served his country in the United States Army. After the military, he went on to be employed in the Railroad industry for over 41 years as a Railroad Agent. During the last 20 years of his career, he had an office out of the DeRidder Papermill for the Santa Fe Railroad where he provided rail services at the papermill ensuring that the mill had railcars provided for them. After retirement, he helped organize the railroad reunions every year.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 66 years, Rachel Bond of DeRidder, LA; two sons, Sherrill Clark Bond and wife Minoo of Atlanta, GA, and Samuel Lynn Bond and wife Laurie of New Iberia, LA; one daughter, Pamela Sue Bond of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Maxwell Bond, Samuel C. Bond, Michael Bond, Joshua Bond, Matthew Bond, Emily Bond, and Wendy Bond; two sisters, Ruth Moreau and husband Allen of Lake Charles, and Audra Bennett and husband Ray of Pitkin; sister-n-law, Nancy Bond of Fayetteville, AR; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Seaborn and Lydia Bond; brothers, Seaborn, Jr., Columbus, Jennings, Rannel, and Ray.
